11 CATALAN CAMPSITES RECOGNISED FOR ITS ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
THE GENERAL MANAGEMENT CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF THE DISTINCTIVE DGQA
Tossa de Mar, December 11, 2014. On December 5, Camping Cala Llevadó in Tossa de Mar, Camping Cala Gogo in Calonge, Camping Les Medes in l’Estartit, Camping Salatà in Roses and Camping Laguna in Castelló d'Empúries were recognised for its environmental quality, as certified companies for over 10 years with the Environmental Quality Guarantee Distinctive (DGQA) by the General Management of Environmental Quality of the Government of Catalonia, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of their own distinctive DGQA. These three campsites in the Costa Brava are part of the eleven Catalan campsites that have made a place for themselves among the 188 catalan companies recognised, offering a total amount of 927 certified products and services. 51% of companies with the distinctive corresponds to tourist accommodation, which includes campsites. The rest is divided between products (20%), vehicles (17%) and services (12%).
The event was hosted by Mr. Josep E. Llebot, Secretary of Environment and Sustainability, and presented by Ms. Assumpta Farran, General Manager of Environmental Quality, who gave an overview of the history of the biennial award, and made special mention of the importance of innovation, present in all areas and sectors of Catalan companies. Farran also highlighted the efforts undertaken by the management team of Environmental Quality for all these years, recognising the task of their creators and developers, some of them present at the event. Then it took place the talk 'Eco-innovation' by Dr. Joan Rieradevall, researcher at ICTA-UAB, who illustrated how Innovation and ECO are present in the daily life, with a particular mention of the 'e' of emotion, referring to the desire of companies to involve its customers in the daily activities in this regard. Later, there were several case studies from four companies representing different categories of DGQA distinctive: Camping Les Medes for 'Camping'; Taxis TMB for 'Vehicles'; TRES Comercial for 'Products and systems to save water'; and CaixBank for ‘Offices with customer service’.
Finally, Llebot envisioned a future without labels, with the intention that over years it will be no longer necessary to use the word ECO, so it will mean that the environmental objectives will have been achieved and everything will belong to normal activity, and not to the will of a few. The ceremony was ended with the recognition to the attending companies for carrying for more than 10 years the Environmental Quality Guarantee Distinctive.
